The Inner Landscapes Series

The Inner Landscape works play with our perception of scale and how monumentality is experienced while viewing an intimately scaled work.

This series of bronze sculptures is made of mixed metals and found objects. I start with a vocabulary of forms that I collect, cast, fabricate, and assemble. Elements such as seedpods, cast thorns and hammered bronze are combined into whimsical assemblages utilizing symbolic imagery and fantasy. I like to merge the ephemeral, delicate elements from nature with the structure and strength of metal. Symbolic imagery and fantasy merge with an intimate. Casting directly from natural forms observes and freezes a moment in time as a photograph does but in three dimensions.
