I make sculptural objects and installations inspired by my garden and the landscape beyond. In my recent work, I interact with the landscape connecting material sites with responsive processes, translating form into symbolic interpretations.

I work en plein air and make gestural drawings with wire, make molds of mountain surfaces, and collect natural materials. I record hiking experiences with sketches and photographs translating memories into biomorphic abstractions. Paper and fabric are stretched like skin over wire skeletons, collaging pictorial views into new dimensional stories. Installations often feature augmented reality, intertwining language and form in virtual space. Traces of nature, time, and memory are translated into immersive, sensate experiences.

My tactile-based process follows ecosystems and patterns found in nature. I build forms with materials that have become both substance and symbol. By applying patinas to dried plants, I re-articulate death into life where I imagine against grief. Rusting steel releases earth tones of iron and orange onto handmade paper while I use fire and water to coax verdigris from bronze and copper. The alchemy of fire symbolically represents water as molten bronze spills into water-like patterns. Direct castings of organic materials transform fragile plants into the strength of bronze.

In a time of environmental concerns, and cultural crisis, the landscape has become symbolic of strength and resilience; a place of longing amid loss. I weave together beauty and hope in response to destruction and grief.
